Bayh Advertising Goes Dirty

In 2004 Evan Bayh degraded the illustrious office of United States Senator from the state of Indiana by running a political advertisement that uses one of the slimiest tricks in the Democrat playbook. If your opponent challenges your voting record and you have no legitimate response to the charge, you simply call your opponent a liar and hope the underhanded attack sticks. Bayh couldn’t even say what the lie supposed to be because there was none.

Bayh Dodges the Issues

One of the best sources of information on the candidates is Project Vote Smart located at www.vote-smart.org. In 1998 Senator Evan Bayh completed their questionnaire on the issues. This year Senator Bayh has repeatedly refused provide his current position on the issues. Perhaps he is embarrassed by some of his recent votes cast in lock step with the extreme left wing leadership of the Senate Democrats. Visit Project Vote Smart on-line and find out where he really stands on the issues.

From 1999 through 2002 Bayh was given a 100% rating for voting with the trial lawyers at the American Bar Association. He would seem to fit in well with his friends John Kerry, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, and Ted Kennedy who also rated 100%.

Conventional Wisdom

In the battle for control of the United States Senate conventional wisdom says that Indiana is not a battleground state. After all, Senator Evan Bayh won by a large margin and has a 12 million-dollar war chest.

Conventional wisdom overlooks several important facts. In 1998, as a do nothing Governor, Bayh had no record on national issues and, in a conservative state, his Republican opponent was an anti-gun liberal. Then in 2004 the Republican candidate got no support from the party so he had no way to get out the truth about Bayh's voting record.

Now Bayh has told us that "the values that must guide us are ... the values that President Clinton has worked to restore". In the Senate he voted with Clinton 94% of the time. And he has a liberal voting record to try to hade from Indiana.

In his twelve years he has voted for Banning Guns, Increasing electric bills with Cap and Trade, government funding for abortion, banning offshore drilling and drilling in ANWHR, gay merriage, banning free political speech with Campaign Finance Reform, Obama Care, and endless earmarks.
